Default 2010 Accord 2.4 liter slow cold cranking solved

Every winter since I bought my Accord EX-L 4 cyl new in 2010, I've noticed slow cranking when the temperature is below zero F. I tried leaving it on a charger overnight and that never seemed to help much. The other morning, it was 16 below (-26C) and the battery couldn't crank the engine fast enough to start it unbtil I fast-charged it for ten minutes. This isn't even all that cold for my area (Minnesota).

Finally I decided to look at the battery, and it had a very lousy 410 "cold cranking amps." For comparison, the cheapest car battery Sears sells has 550 cold cranking amps. I don't think Honda made the right choice to use this battery in cars being sold in northern locations. For all I know it might be a great battery for warmer climates, but not where the temperature can dip into the 30s or more below zero.

There are a number of other nits I could pick about below-zero problems--windows don't always operate (not from being frozen shut, either), very sluggish display response, poor heater, invalid TPMS warnings and seat warmers that take so long to start putting out heat by then your butt has warmed the seat up already. My 2003 Corolla didn't have these problems. Don't get me wrong, Honda got a hell of a lot right with this car--it's just at a distinct disadvantage in cold climates. If you don't normally see temperatures below zero, you would not experience any of the difficulties I've had.
