Default 2017 CRV Catalytic Converter Shield

Hello,

Do any company's make a catalytic converter shield to prevent theft? I have e a 2017 CRV and all the steel ones I see say they will onlybwork on a 2016 not a 2017. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

welcome to the forum. Have you looked into a muffler shop. They may be able to weld in a bracket to help prevent theft of the cat.

The catalytic converter is not easily accessed on the 2017-2022 CRV's it's attached to the exhaust manifold I have never heard of one being stolen from a 5th generation CRV.>

I would think so since the engine is pretty much unchanged from the 5th generation.

Thanks for the reply I wish I had the ability to look under it. Maybe after it sits in the garage over night and cools off I might be able to slide underneath and look since it sits a little higher. I have put two wheels on the curb to check under a car in the past but that creeps me out now that I am older having cars go by and possibility of hitting the car while under it. I know I could get ramps but these days with back surgeries I am not wild about climbing flimsy pull down stairs and pulling them out of the attic so with that I won’t buy some more.

I ended up having the undercarriage sprayed with rust preventative coatin to cover all but brake lines, exhaust, driveshaft etc. It included a molded to fit (heavy duty) sound insulation material installed. I was surprised you can’t even see much of the exhaust nor the catalytic converter. I had ordered a 135 Decibel Converter Defender alarm system while sitting there but when completed I looked Underneath the car and was surprised by how it covers most of the undercarriage and will be returning the alarm.
