Question 91 Accord Sudden/Intermittent Engine Stoppage

I have a 91 Accord that recently began having sporadic, sudden and intermittent engine stoppage under any and all situations. I could be idling or driving down the freeway and the engine will suddenly stop with the orange 'check engine' light coming on. Sometimes it will start right back up sometimes not for several minutes. I do notice that when it is going to start the 'check engine' light goes out before starting. Otherwise it runs fine. It seems to happen roughly about every 10 - 20 minutes. Not sure if this is an ignition or fuel injector problem. I do not smell gas when this occurs. Any ideas or suggestions as to how to narrow this down to a particular system?
Thanks,
Joe

welcome to the forum. Check first. spark plugs, wires, distributor, ignitor (coil for burn) coil spring for deterioration or missing, mail relay. Fuel pressure in the fuel rail.

jiggle the key a little bit back and forth and mean very slightly and slowly. if it stalls easily doing that it may be the electrical portion of the ignition switch. if it is the problem you will be able to tell the difference in the play of the key before it stalls. in other words the new switch will take more movement to make the car stall.
