I have a 2000 Honda Civic DX. Today it was acting crazy. It started fine. When i accelerate it hesitates and shakes, when idol it seems like it wants to shut off. there is also a burning smell. it smells electrical. and of course there's the blinking check engine light. does anyone have any ideas of what it might be before i take it somewhere? if it's gonna cost too much, i'm probably better off getting rid of it, but i really would rather keep it. please help..

 

welcome to the forum. Has the car been tuned up lately?Call around a few parts places to find out if anyone can retreive the codes from your car for free. Autozone, Pepboys, Amco transmission, find out what the codes are then go from there.

 

if you have a haynes manual.... look up the codes in the book it will show you how to test the check engine light codes and tell you what needs to be replaced
