Default Cant start car with new key(have old fob)

Hello everyone, new to this site. Looks like alot of knowledgeable people here. Anyway, my metal key broke off my fob yesterday(04 Accord). Went to dealer, paid $50 for new key and casing(had old casing, but screw hole was striped). They took the "guts" out of old casing and put into the new one. When i got home and tried to start the car, the engine would not turn over. When i called back, they said if it cranks at all that the problem is not with the key. I had no problem before this and was driving(and starting) the car perfectly the day before. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

welcome to the forum. check to see if you have fuel to the injector system, spark at the plugs, if you have both, when was the timing belt last changed. if all done recently, you might ask the dealer to recheck the key guts put in.

thanks for the response. Everything was fine 36 hours earlier. NEVER had a issue like this starting the car. Its just that over the phone, the dealership said it COULDN'T be the key. They just cut me a generic key and replaced the insides of my fob. Was wondering if its possible it could be the key, because the timing is suspicious. Thanks.

Could they have put the key guts in wrong? Sorry if the question sounds stupid. Not to knowledgeable on this subject.

Default Can a new key made for a 04 accord that doesnt start the car make the old key obsolet

Can getting a generic new key made at the dealership that wont start the car make the original key obsolete. Maybe the computer sensor shut something down. Found the original key and now that eont work after trying the new key. Before this, NEVER had a problem starting the car as long as i owned it. Thank you.
