hi there not sure if this is in the right section and my apology's if it isn't....

I have a rover 200 with a 16v 1.4 lump in it with a knackered head gasket( bet u didn't see that coming lol)

I have a friend that's a mechanic and tells me if I get a civic 1.4 engine it will fit straight in without needing to change gearbox, starter motor, alternator, loom ecu or anything else for that matter, but a few scrapyards that I have visited today have told me it isn't that straight forward to do it and that the gearbox on a civic 1.4 is on the left as supposed to the right in the rover.

I'm completely clueless on this matter so I was hoping there was a few people on here that knows what the score is with this engine change and could give me the facts on what needs to be changed??
