GAS METER

Default GAS METER

In my 1998 Honda Civic EX my gas gauge is messed up....the meter stick usually always sits on full even when i know my tank is close to Empty.....or even sometimes it will tell me how much gas i have in it and it will slowly rise to the full sign "F" can anybody tell me what the problam may be?? or even tell me how to fix it???

It's probably your fuel sending guage, it's basically a float on a wire that senses the level of fuel left in your tank.

It's sounds like your float is not "Floating" properly or the potentiometer is just bad.

Nevertheless, it is connected to the fuel pump assembly which you can usually remove by removing the cover in your trunk area.
