Default help! 94 civic acceleration problems

Ok, lets see if I can describe the problem well enough...
First, I've got a great and reliable 94 civic... Love it.
I don't drive it very much, and it has about 107K miles on it.
Out of the blue, two days ago it started to "stutter" or "not respond" a little.
It seems like when I try to accelerate (especiallly on the freeway) it doesn't really respond right away, or it "stutters" a bit in responding. But also sometimes on the street, after I shift and accelerate, it will stutter a little before accelerating...
I'm not sure if it is a clutch issue or a fuel issue... if that makes sense.
What else can I add or check to diagnose the problem?
And yes, I am slightly clueless.
Thanks!

Does anyone have any suggestions on my "cfueltchR" (fuel system oR clutch) situation? I'd just like to get an idea of what's wrong so I don't get taken by a shady mechanic...

welcome to the forums.. it could possible just be a clutch problem.. sometimes when driving i slip the clutch or let it go a little to early or even shift too soon and it will stutter... yes it may not have been doing it previously but you could have put enough wear and tear on the clutch that its worn down just a tat and needs to be shifted different.. next time you drive it try shifting at different rpms and different clutch let out speeds and see if it help at all.

Thanks for the input! I took it out for a drive again, but not very far (don't want to get stuck). If I don't accelerate hard, all is ok. But when I punch it, sometimes it runs up just fine (all the way to redline), but other times, as it is running up, it will do several little "lurches"... but not always. Kind of reminds me of being in too low of a gear and punching it, and the car shudders a bit until one downshifts. Does this make it clearer? I'm leaning toward a fuel problem?

update:arghhh... the problem went away for a long time and I forgot about it. Now it's back again. Wish I had found a solution the first time.

When I'm not working on my car, I working on my site: http://www.tradeshowrockstar.com
Maybe some day I'll make enough to buy a new car... fingers crossed!
