Default HELP!! Can't remove key from igntion!

Shifter was stuck in park so I did "the shifter release procedure." Shifter works fine now. Drove home, turned car off but could not turn KEY to OFF position to remove key. Moves fine between ACC, ON and Start.

Long story short, I disconnected battery and tried key. Popped right out like the day I bought it in 2003. Starts up and and drives with no problems until I stop. Key won't got to off position to remove. Disconnect battery and it comes right out.

Any suggests?

Welcome to the forum ,you would think that by disconnecting the battery the ECM would relearn ,try leaving it disconnected for several minutes then try.

it sounds like there is an issue with the shift lock release. I would guess it's just dirty around your shifter and the connection that tells your car it's in park isn't being made very well. I'd take the console out and see if you can clean up any hidden filth
