Idle throttle seems high
Hello,
I'm a new owner of a 2006 Honda CRV and I've noticed that it really seems to cruise with no throttle input. For example, in drive, the car will maintain about 20mph on flat ground, and will easily pull away on a slight uphill grade without throttle input. At the stop light, it fights the brakes more than I'm used to. The idle itself seems fine, about 800 RPM once warmed up, but when I put it in drive, I can feel the car giving it a punch of throttle. Is this normal? The car is kinda touchy at low speeds, because even a very minimal throttle input often brings me past 25 mph and I have to keep letting off the gas to keep from speeding on side streets.
I've also noticed a weird downshifting thing when coasting. The car starts gear hunting. It's easily thwarted by a touch of brakes or a touch of gas. I wonder if that could be related?
Thanks,
Willem Smith
