I have a 1997 accord and lost my original key. I have a key that opens the door but will not start the car. Can I disable anything that would allow me to start the car with a simple key? If not what should I do?

 

welcome to the forum and enjoy your stay. Call your nearest honda dealer, tell them of your situation, GET THE NAME OF THE PERSON YOU ARE SPEAKING TO!!!!! Find out what legal info they need to make you a duplicate key. Some say ownership, registration, your 2 id's, to prove you own the car. They can usually make up a key to fit perfect with the circuit in it.

 

yes, the dealer can provide it for you. on my town they only ask the code (number) of old key.
