Hello Everyone, I realize my question is going to sound somewhat ridiculous to you, but I'm going to go ahead and ask anyway. I have a 2002 Honda Accord LX and the hub caps are in pretty rough shape, so I was going to go ahead and take them off and then spray paint them. The problem I'm having is that I can't get the damn things off!! I've tried loosening all around the hub cap, but then when I go to try and pull it off it bends to the point where I'm pretty sure it's going to crack!! I have never seen hub caps that have given me as much trouble as these are!! I even thought that maybe the lug nuts were keeping it in, but that doesn't make much sense to me. Can anyone make a suggestion that might help? Thank you

 

honda has 2-3 lugnuts holding the hubcap on. remove all the lug nuts and you can see which ones are holding the cap in place,

 

Thank you for your help. So it is true that some of the lug nuts keep the hub cap on? I know there is one that you need a special tool in order to take it off but I didn't realize that there were a couple more that holds the cap in place. Why do they do that?

 

my experience with several accords and civics and a Fit I noticed that hondas hub caps have nothing to hold them into place, only the ring around the lug nut.. their style of hub cap made.

 

Hello again, Thanks for your help. Earlier I had gone online with a Honda rep through their chat line and she came back and told me that the manger says that the lug nuts do hold the hub cap in place. I've never seen, nor heard about, any other car having that ridiculous set up!

 

Every Honda I have ever owned had factory mag wheels.
