Overheat
Let me first tell you my situtation: I own a 2001 Civic Coupé EX, which was purchased "pre-owned" on 2003. Since last November, I've had a constant overheating problem that the people in the dealership's "service" have not been able to fix. The following is what they have told me, and the possible solution to it, I'll specify what I did in each case:
November '05 - A hose had been disconnected due to apparent pressure; hose was reconnected and coolant was replaced.
January '06 - Nothing wrong was found on the engine's cooling system.
February '06 - They told me that the problem was the dashboard, which had to be replaced (for $500 USD); I did not replace it, so I was told not to mind what the heat gauge read, as it was damaged.
March '06 - The heat gauge kept going up and down, to which I was told that the thermostat was damaged and needed to be replaced, I agreed to the replacement and was charged $200 USD.
April '06 - A problem with the wiring was the apparent cause for the heat gauge going up and down, that issue was fixed.
May '06 - They told me they "opened up" the entire cooling system, and it was in good shape, a heat sensor was replaced to see if it fixed the problem, which obviously didn't.
May '06 (Not a typo, this was two weeks later) - the spark plugs were replaced, as they had informed me that since they were burned, was the most probable cause for the overheat (I know absolutely nothing about cars, nonetheless it was hard for me to find the relevance between the spark plugs and the car overheating)
Some may wonder why I don't go to another place, and the answer is: they are bent on finding out the cause, and haven't charged me anything ever since I paid for the thermostat to be replaced. The cooling fans work, the system has been purged several times. Can anyone please point out to me a probable cause for the overheat?
