Default Problem with the petrol gauge

Hi everyone,
My wife put to much gas in the tank of our 2007 Honda Civic. Since that time the petrol gauge remain full.

Is there something, I can do?

you can't really put to much gas in a gas tank that wouldn't cause a problem. so either its the gauge itself or maybe the float in the gas tank. try using a fuel cleaner and see if that works maybe some Seafoam brand . or gain access to the float in the tank.

So you're sure that the problem is related to the fact that my wife put to much gaz in the tank?

Do you know, if it cost a lot to repair. I have no talent in mecanics... If so how much do you think it's going to cost me.

Thanks

welcome to the forum. if it is the float, the cost is approx 150.00 plus the fuel tank usually needs to be dropped to r & r the float. takes approx 3.5 hrs to drop and reinstall the tank ( est ) Honda labor is about80 to 120.00 per hr depending on dealership. Find a good shop AAA rated and get some estimates. filling up the tank max does not make the float stick.

if its setup like a civic i don't believe you have to drop the tank. you gain access to the fuel pump and float via under the backseat but i could be mistaken.
