Default rear disk brakes

This may seam like a simple question but here it is anyways. Replacing rear disk brake pads on an 02 accord. How do you get the calliper piston back in the calliper? I tried using a clamp but it is ver akward and it won't budge. Does it have something to do with the emergency brake cable setup? Thanks

welcome to the forum. Go to autozone.com and register for free. with your car info , you can go to repair to brakes to rear disk, it will give you the info you need, and yes the parking brake needs to be disconnected to collapse the caliper.

the calipers should have a cross or x patternon their face if so these donot compress as the old style did they require being spun down with a cheap but necessary tool, that attaches to a 3/8 drive ratchet and you turn them in..... be sure that when fully dropped the cross pattern is straight up and down and level side to side, (this usually ensures they dont hang up , also be sure to lube the piston boots so they dont tear, i usually apply a little vaseline to the inner edge/groove then spray with brake kleen when turned down to prevent deterioration
