My '99 Civic came with a mostly complete "Minime" swap. Its been a bit of a hassle picking up where somebody I never met left off. I'd really like some more torque and I'd be willing to sacrifice top end for it. If I decide to pull this engine and start fresh, what engine would be a good swap for me? It needs to be fairly economical and not require any fab work, and still get decent mileage. Am I asking too much, or has somebody figured this out before?

1200 looks and nobody has a reply? I really figured this would launch into a huge discussion about torque vs horsepower / power vs work etc. That's not what I wanted, but I would like somebody to chime in, or maybe point me to an existing thread that covers this topic. I know next to nothing about Honda cars so I really don't know what to do with it besides sell it and get a more driveable car. That's not what i want to do, but I haven't ruled it out.
