We are having a problem with our 1990 Honda EX - 180,000miles - 4cylinder.
First we had the speed sensor problem. I replaced that myself two weeks ago.
Now the tachometer is jumping all over the place feels like the engine is trying to find where to shift. (that is what my wife told me.) I drove it last night. It started doing the same thing - it backfired and then would not start. Next day it did start after much trial but would not stay on without gas pedal applied.

Please let me know what you think is wrong and if what you would do to fix it.
