Default 2000 Accord Wheel Bearing Replacement

Hello.

I am trying to replace the front wheel bearings on my 2000 Accord EX V-6 coupe myself. It has almost 240,000 miles. I am the original owner and none of the automatic transaxle or driveaxles have ever been replaced to date.

Today I replaced the front rotors and brake pads, but it still makes this "rowing" noise once the car hits circa 20 MPH and changes frequency at different speeds. My father says it needs new wheel bearings - my gut tells me the same.

I removed the caliper, rotor, and 36mm center bolt, but cannot figure out where to go from there since the Haynes manual does not go into this level of detail.

Someone, please help.

welcome to the forum. If you plan to save a lot of money fixing your car, get ourself a honda service manual. I have one for every Honda I have and save a lot of money. I beleive you have to remove the hub also to get access to the sealed pressed in bearing. Do not pull the shaft out to far, it will came apart.

There should be four bolts holding the hub assembly ,loosen those and it will fall off, take an appropriate size wrench and take the backing off to get to the bearings, now you will need a wheel puller to get to the bearings,Getting them out will be rough,I believe these bearings have to be pressed in,so you may want to just buy a new assembly with bearings already installed.A lot less trouble.

Default Hub n bearings

Taking bearings out the hub n installing is a very hard job n possible damage if not savvy mech. But to make it easier n highly suggest if you don’t mind spending a little money buying hub n bearing assembly instead for good investment n less worry. Everything on YouTube.
