Hello,

I have a 2013 Honda Accord Sport with 135,000 miles. Overall, this is a terrific vehicle. The one issue I have had however, over the past 6-months or so, involves the check engine light coming on, with an error code of
P0420. The code reads Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold B1. The likely solution is to simply replace the Catalytic Convertor. I am not looking to spend this kind of money however (only 135k miles). I have had my garage add
some cat cleaner, and reset the code, but it popped back on. The garage checked for leaks, found none, and then reset the code---it popped back on. The garage then replaced some clamps, etc. on the cat and then reset the
code---it popped back on again. I am at a loss at this point. Has anyone else experienced anything similar, or have any ideas?

welcome to the forum. 07 Fit. at 230k miles, the code for the cat came on. got it reset and did not come on for another 5k, then after reset came back on. replace cat at 900.00 no problem since, now at 285k+ miles. Cats are not cheap, they have iridium and exotic metals in them to save our air. have you asked honda if they would foot some of the cost of the cat. cat should not go out so quick.
