2014 Accord V6 P0 420
Hi, new to this forum with a 2014 Accord EX L. Only had it a month and it just threw a P0 420 code, Cat Converter ( or 02 sensor?).Car runs great, good mileage lots of power, smooth shifts, all seems good but for this code. Anyone have any good thoughts? Car has 165,00 miles,Thanks in advance, Dave
welcome to the forum had a similar experience on my 06 Fit. had 230k miles cat code showed, had the shop check and reset. ran car for another month, same code. changed cat 1400.00 now no codes. current miles 295k miles.
Dreaded P0420. Cat below efficiency
Could be the cat or could be the O2 sensor??
My nephew's CRV has that code
NYS has Cali emissions regulations. So need CARB approved cat.
Expensive!! $2350 at the dealership
Found on line for $1600.
Cleared codes and watched the readiness monitors.
When it was almost complete, went in for inspection. Passed.
So, got another year before having to change out the cat.

I have a scanner and it shows the code as pending. It seems to stay at pending. The engine just had a recall done ( Bank 1 cylinder rings) Also at that time had timing belt & accessories done plugs too. It seems that it won't be a problem for emissions unless it triggers the MIL. I guess i'll just wait it out and see. The mechanic seems to think that it may resolve since the recall problem may have allowed excessive oil through the cat
If you do not have an inspection soon then try clearing or erasing the DTCs and see if the code returns (pending or other wise)
Would think that you do not have a serious issue and hopefully everything is back to normal.
