2024 Accord Touring (code P0134) & CarPlay
Earlier today I had the (terrible fortune to run over what I assume to be a piece of steel from a local farm. My front / right tire took the hit and the short version of the story is, I ended up having the car towed (flatbed) and having the tire replace ($300). After having the car returned to me, I noticed that the CarPlay app would NOT appear and I was being informed that there was an "Emissions Problem...". I was able to take the car to a nearby dealer who took a look and they noted that the ECU stored code P0134 (of course it cleared by the time the mechanic sat in the car). The only thing that the dealer could come up with was that I has an after-market (K&N) air filter installed and they asked me to replace the OEM filter and monitor the situation. They cleared the code, test drove and checked again for pending codes and it's fine. HUH? Anybody else hear of this?
In relation to CarPlay...it did not matter what I did with my phone or the car, the CarPlay icon would NOT appear. After speaking to the Service Writer, he suggested something that I never heard of before...namely to hold down the power button for for the entertainment unit for 10 seconds. Yes, I was skeptical...but after accepting the car from the dealer I noted that the CarPlay icon was still not appearing...so I gave it a shot. I held down the power button and...BAM...IT WORKED! It looked like the entertainment system restarted (quick reset) and CarPlay started right up. Have you heard of this before?
Thanks,
