'90 Accord Coolant Leak
Hi guys,
I got a leak on the back of the engine, down, driver side. It's right next to the pooley. There is a vertical black plastic cover bordering two engine sections and where they meet there is a black rubber gasket.
Well, to the best of my abilities (to see) the coolant iz sipping through that black gasket. I used to have intermitant coolant leak before but I couldn't figure it out where is it coming from until now.
I might have made a problem worse by blowing water through the colling system under pressure after flushing the radiator.
The car: '90 Honda Accord, automatic, with 250,000 miles but wasn't driven in five years.
Any thoughts? Thanks!

welcome to the forum. Water/coolant may be coming from your water pump. If the timing belt was changed and the waterpump not changed, it could be the pump.
If you have the water pump changed, do the timing belt if not done recently due to they are all in the same area and same amount of work. Also include the cam and crank seal.

Thank you!
I think you are right. I checked some repair manuals and I think you pinpointed the problem right on! I had a timing belt replaced just before "parking" the car, six to seven years earlier but I don't think the water pump was replaced at the time. My Accord was the first Japanese car I owned as I used to drive only "American" previously. I wasn't aware where the water pump was located on Accord as opposed to most other cars, right in front of you for easy access. All you have to do is replace the belt and insert a new pump and you are done. I used to do most of my repairs myself, on my old cars and Accord as well but I think I'll have a mechanic tackle this one. This car was great to me over the years so I can't complain. My odometer died on me at 250k and I drove a few more years after that so it's over 300k. It passed "California Smog Check" in 2003, I believe, just a few months before storing it. Oh, well, I hope it'll go another 100k after the new water pump is installed.
Thanks again!
Thanks again!
