Default 94 Accord ATF Change

Bought a 94 accord for my daughters first car. Going to change the ATF and use DW1. With me not knowing if/when/or type of fluid currently in there I am considering doing the drain/refill 3 times like I have been reading about. Is this truly the recommended way? If so, how far should I drive after the first and second drain/refill? Is the purpose to just keep diluting the old fluid, so all that really needs done is "mixing" it up? Thanks!

the purpose is to get all the old fluid in the torque converter out because about 70% of the fluid is in there. first shift through gears a couple times then drive around for a couple miles and repeat. the drain and fill is recommended by honda so i wouldn't doubt the recommendation of the company that made the transmission.the only other option is to use a pressurized machine which is not recommended because it can potentially cause problems with older worn transmissions.

Yea with the flush method you won't get a new filter install.

i believe the filter is inside the transmission and cannot be replaced under normal circumstance. but you can ad a separate external filter.not having a easily replaceable filter is the main reason honda transmissions usually prematurely fail due to clogging.
