95 4-door accord fixer-upper

Working on buying parts to get it up to snuff and looking good.
- so far items bought but not installed yet -
break master cylinder
timing belt kit
valave adjustment kit
rear struts
window deflectors
repair manual

What i know that it needs still, bushing and or seals on all suspention front and back.
A complete go thru on manitance check from front to back.
In the end i want it to be 99% reliable to go anywear with out worries. so any input would be welcome.

For the look i want a front lower airdam that looks better then stock.
maybe some nice rims but still run factory tires, so no 22's lol
maybe a proformance chip or what ever a 2.2 sohc takes
paint job, it's a stock goldish tan looking color right now.
upgrade the speakers

thats all i can think of right now. ""I'll post some pics later on""
so any thought and or ideas are welcome.

bucwheat 04-07-2018 10:52 AM

Sounds like you got it covered, should look good ,post up pics.

2thpic 04-11-2018 10:59 AM

is there a good replacment antanna to get rid of the non-working power one?

2thpic 04-12-2018 07:36 AM

So I have gotten side tracked a little. went to the armory to pick up some rounds for my 8mm mouser rifle and saw a sweet looking sks early 70's rifel.
ooooooo it similar to my 8mm but a lot cheaper on the rounds. 8mm about 1.00 each time you shoot one off, sks 7.62x39mm witch equals about 0.35 cents per shot.
so I think I might get back to working on my Honda next weekend. :) I got boxes of parts but I also got boxes of ammo too.......

bucwheat 04-12-2018 05:13 PM

I collect assault rifles and have three SKS rifles, love them, convert them to a 30 round clip, best move with these guns.

2thpic 04-18-2018 09:26 AM

Thought about that but for this first one im sticking with the stock 10 round.
My biggest thing is i want a scope but i dont want to drill and tap into the rifle.
Im thinking about the scout mount that replaces the rear sights and mount ing reddot or something ofthat nature.

On my car im getting windsheld replaced today and getting it tented tomarow. I would like to get a dark brown tent just to be different.
I think im goingto paint it 2 tone. a metalic dark brown lower and light brown/tan on top. Similer to this style http://www.cardomain.com/ride/752393/2000-honda-accord/
Goingto see about getting a lower front air dam that i can install some led driving lights in. "ebay 45.00"

2thpic 04-24-2018 11:12 AM

So I ordered head light and tail tint covers and I got all the glass tinted, it looks much better, but then the starter is going out so got 1 ordered aswell.
I guess this is a good time to replace the timing belt and adjust the valves and all that stuff too.
Any pointers on the replacement of the timing belt. I was reading in the repair manual this morn. and like most they tell u so much stuff that i lost in the steps.
I think at one point it said to take the tires off, pop the rear truck open, take off gas cap, remove spare tire and tune ther radio station to get the valve cover off?????

2thpic 04-27-2018 07:28 AM

o freaking wow......................
What a pain in the freaking a$$ it is to replace the starter on my 95 accourd.
It took forever to get the thing out.
Remove batt., remove water inlet hose, remove air box top and intake pipe stuff, then you can see it.
From there you can barly get a ratchet wrench on the nut that holds the + wire on. 1/4 turns till it comes off.
Allmost the same way with the bolts, 1/4 to 1/3 turns till the finily come out. that is if you can get the socket in there to get to the back one.
1.5 hours later you got it out. "install in reverse" O yea, don't forget that ground wire that plugs into the back of the solenoid.
It is a pain in the butt to plug back in after you put it all back together and can"t fig. out why it wont start at 9:30 at night.
After you have busted your nuckels and custed out the ratchet wrench that is locked up that is now a basic wrench.

But it's all good now driving it today and happy..... :)

Side note:
Dont read the repair manual for info on how to replace the starter.
What is said in short.
remove + cable from batt.
disconnect + wire and ground clip from solenoid.
remove mounting bolts, install in reverse.

Sounds like removing the starter from my old chevy pickup......"wrong"

bucwheat 04-28-2018 07:35 AM

That looks awesome,I have always liked that body style.

2thpic 04-29-2018 11:03 AM

It looks a lot better now compared to when I first started driving it.
I so should have took before pics.
looking for some rims to match it, want to keep the 15" size tho.
also for fun I am keeping to stock cassette player in it and running a 8 or 10" sub for a little bass.

acmech52 04-29-2018 04:42 PM

looks to be in great shape, now its reliable since more work done to keep it up. enjoy your ride

2thpic 04-30-2018 09:37 AM

Add this just for fun so someone can ask, why?????
https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/hondafo...2686522536.jpg
Got my (2) cases of cassettes in the floorboard, yes the ones from back in the day. ((90's))
If you grew up in the age when cd's where just coming out, some people would hang a cd from the rearview to show off that they got a cd player.

2thpic 05-04-2018 07:48 AM

woot! just checked e-bay and my head light and tail light covers will be in today, along with a new air intake (stock).

acmech52 05-04-2018 04:08 PM

when the car is well cared for, have seen accords up at 500k. burning a bit of oil but still running.

2thpic 05-04-2018 04:32 PM

humm. i might have 1 little set-back on the headlight covers.
you know them little headlight nipples...i wonder if the tented covers will go over them?
https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/hondafo...bcfb013031.jpg
https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/hondafo...aa9dfccb45.jpg
i hope so............

bucwheat 05-05-2018 07:45 AM

They should, these things are made and tested on the car they are made for. Hope the state laws where you are allow them,as a retired LEO I would issue warnings if they used them at night, daytime use was fine.

2thpic 05-09-2018 06:23 PM

In Arkansas they dont care abount most things arouns here, but im now looking at geting LED lights or HID's.
Dont know witch would be better.

2thpic 05-14-2018 10:18 AM

So I adjusted the vales on my 95 this weekend. was ez except for 2 of the valve adjustment screws where locked up and it took some time to free them up.
I also replaced the plugs, they where in great need of it.
https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/hondafo...1fea415907.jpg
Just a little bit wore out.
I compiled a pic by pic of how I put the new seals on the valve cover bolts. fig. it might come in handy for someone else.

So with the valves adjusted and new plugs it runs somewhat better.

2thpic 05-14-2018 10:22 AM

Now some new pics of the ride.
https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/hondafo...3c3deeebb8.jpg
https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/hondafo...a69dd8251c.jpg
So I want to black out the rear reflectors and front blinkers along with the Honda logos. Any ideas??
If anyone has any idea on how to get that sticky stuff and such off the trunk I would greatly be happy.

2thpic 05-15-2018 08:17 AM

ok, Guys I need to run a amp power wire, but there are almost no ports thru the fire wall.
I noticed a wire try under the car on the drivers side just inside of the frame.
I think that is how the break lines are routed, do yall think that might be a good way to run a power wire to the trunk?
what im going to buy and run is this..... https://www.rockfordfosgate.com/prod...tails/p300-10/
So all I will need is a power and ground.
I know back in the day I would rip out all most all the interior and run the wires under the carpet and all of that.
just trying to see if any of you have does this and know of a different approach.

rubbing alcohol and a rag will get it off,as far as blacking out the emblem scuff it with sand paper and shoot two coats of semi gloss black.

2thpic 05-15-2018 01:11 PM

Sweet thanks!!!!!!!!!!

2thpic 05-21-2018 11:03 AM

well, I got the sub and installed it Sunday. sounds good but nothing like a 1,000 sub system. I add just the right of bass to make it all come out great.

Sounds like you are having fun with it,that's great. I'm Renovating a 97 F 350 Crewcab Dually, new motor $6500 ,new tires, headliner and dash cover. New brushguard with 30" light-bar, 150 Hp tuner. Its going into the shop for new paint next week. Love doing this stuff.

2thpic 05-22-2018 04:55 PM

^^^^ nice ^^^^

2thpic 06-05-2018 01:10 PM

ok, so it has been a little time now and I still like the 10 f.g. sub...…………………….but I want more. lol
so I have a Memphis amp from a old build about 5yrs ago and I think it is still good.
Now I'm looking at subs, thinking of 8" or 10" Skar subwoofers. https://www.skaraudio.com/pages/subwoofers
Prob a sealed box to cut down on space so I can still get the spare tire out if needed.
Has anyone built and or installed a good box that I can get some ideas from in there honda??

2thpic 06-07-2018 01:47 PM

woot! just picked up a new project car...… 67 ford falcon...…..

2thpic 06-19-2018 07:35 AM

ok, for some reason my car did not want to start today.
last time I drove it (Friday) when I took off it died but started right back up.
made it all the way home no issues but I did notice that it just didn't feel right.
this morning I jumped in it and started it and as soon as it started it died.
tried it about 5 time and each time vruuum die vruuum die like it isn't getting gas or some thing.
haven looked at it, just jumped into the 67 falcon and came to work.
any pointers for when I get home?????????

acmech52 06-27-2018 02:14 PM

main relay

bucwheat 06-29-2018 06:47 AM

I agree main relay ,happened to me couple of years ago. Mine would start then die right away.

2thpic 07-05-2018 09:48 AM

ok, thanks. I ordered 1 from rockauto it should be in soon.
I was going to try to keep my money local but all parts stores here wanted 60.00 +-
Rockauto was 28.00 +- and I didn't want to get used from junkyard.

2thpic 07-11-2018 01:03 PM

ok, I replaced the main relay and I thought it worked till I got about 2miles down the road add the tach went crazy flopping back and forth. the dash lights went out and the car almost died and the motor had no power. I floored it trying to keep it going and after about 5 sec or so it started working again and the dash lights got real bright and power to the motor was back. but it didn't last. this happened about 5 to 6 times before I finely got back to the home. visions of sks woopass on the car danced in my head...…..

any ideas.... maybe me just thinking out loud some kind of voltage regulator or something...………………..

2thpic 08-08-2018 09:47 AM

so I am still with out my car running.

acmech52 08-08-2018 08:57 PM

check to see if you have a strong blue spark at the spark plug if so not the coil possible ignition switch. jiggle the key in the switch to see if the start and die goes away. ign switch going bad may cause the guage to go up and down.,

2thpic 10-08-2018 10:04 AM

so, a little update on my non running accord...………………..
I have replaced that dumb relay 4 times and still no go.
I have went thru all the fuses and checked all wires that I think could be the problem for not letting it stay started.
so (2) things left to be replaced in hopes to having it back on the road. ing. switch and the computer.
I just got in a new ign. switch from rockauto and I hope to get that on the car this week. tonight if possible.
I also have a new box of 1000 rounds for my ak-47. so if the ign switch does not fix it the ak-47 will.
no joke, if so I will have it on video...………………………………..

2thpic 10-15-2018 08:53 AM

ok, update on the car. so I didn't have to get my rifle out after replacing the egn. switch.
it worked, what a pain in the foot to replace that part.
been driving it all weekend long and runs great, but now the break peddle is almost going to the floor to stop the car. I guess it has some air in the lines from setting up or maybe the master cylinder is going out but I think I replaced that last summer.
so on to the next repair .

acmech52 10-17-2018 12:43 AM

2thpic, just curious, what part of arkansas are you from, i had a father in law that lived in fortsmith. my wife and i used to enjoy going to visit. i just had a hard time with the humid season. people are nice in AK.

2thpic 12-10-2018 09:34 AM

I live in a little town called Lonsdale pop. 325+-.
so a update on my Honda car, its still running good a little bit on the weak side but it's a 2.2 so it is what it is.
I bought some CREE LED lights for it the other week and installed them last Friday but they didn't work.
thinking that they might need more juice or something I contacted the manufacture.
they suggested to install them again but plug them in backwards, because there lights are universal to many other cars and trucks.
there for the contacts might be different from car to car. yall ever had this problem and or ran into this?
also have yall installed LED's in your ride if so tips and tricks needed.

the type I got...….
https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/hondafo...bf2f0b5972.jpg

2thpic 12-10-2018 09:36 AM

also I got a lower front mugen air dam from Ebay that I could put some small led's in the air holes if the LED's don't pan out.
