Default Brake Pads and Rotors

I'm inching ever closer to a brake job for my '93 Accord. I will probably replace pads and rotors, at least on the front. I won't decide about the back wheels until I look at them. I plan to do the work myself.

Our questions are about choosing between metallic and ceramic, matching rotors to pads, and sourcing the parts. We are leaning toward metallic pad sets (4 pads and clips) because the Accord is mostly a town car that gets maybe 2k miles a year. We are your seeking advice on brands of parts and sources. We have the big 3 (AdvanceAuto, AutoZone, and O'Reilly) close by but are not averse to sourcing online to get the best price/performance trade off. We are retired, nearing 80 yo so the budget is a concern. We can't go for high dollar items as use doesn't justify it. Convince ua that we are right or wrong about metallic vs ceramic, please, and give us your advice about sourcing the parts. We are working from the assumption that rotors do not have to be matched to pads, but please let us know if we are off track.

TIA

Good pads like Wagners are close to $40 to $60
Store brand value grades are closer to $20 to $40
But, should always ask about brake bundles.
Sometimes getting better pads and rotors for much cheaper.

Rockauto.com has about the cheapest prices I have seen.
But, you must make sure the parts are right for you.
They can charge a 20% restocking fee and then there is the charge for shipping them back.

DIY is the way to save on labor.
But, have a buddy on hand to help if the going gets tough.
Usually two bolts to remove caliper
Then another two bolts to remove caliper bracket
Sometimes there is a screw which holds the rotor on the hub.
The rotor can be rusted into place.
If stuck then look up youtube videos about removing stuck rotors.

Just remember that you can always stop and put things back together to try again another time
Waiting for better weather or tools.
Good luck

Thanks avisitor! My SIL is going to help. I'm shopping RockAuto but I don't know how to be sure I'm ordering the right parts. Returns might be a problem; so I'm also checking O'Reilly, AutoZone and Advance Auto.
