Default Is an engine flush for a 2005 Honda Accord necessary?

So far this month my car received new spark plugs, 2 new tires, rear brakes, a new side mirror, a starter, an oil change, and a battery re-charge. I get it home from the shop and the check engine light comes on and the right side fan won't shut off when I turn my car off. My mechanic is telling me I have a leak in my engine, he can turn the fan off but the engine needs a flush.

Is this necessary in newer cars? I've had it since 2006 and I don't read manuals. I don't know whether I need it or not after the $1,000 some odd dollars I just put in it. My car has about 84,000 miles on it.

Depends, what code comes up with a scan tool? Does the fan stay on forever?
