Default Power steering flush

Hello,

Do I need a power steering flush when replacing the hose from the power steering fluid resevoir? The mechanic is saying yes, but I've heard these services aren't necessary. I have a 2002 Civic at 103k. Any advice on this issue would be much appreciated. Thanks.

I have never done it ,What I have done is buy a cheap turkey baster and vaccum up all the fluid you can get out with it and then replace it with fresh fluid. I bought one recently at a Dollar tree dollar store to replace brake fluid in the Hondas Mastercylinder.

Would I have to do anything special to the steering wheel if I go this route? It seems so simple.

Thanks.

This never gets all the fluid out but after several times the fluid does get clearer,I have one of thos eunits that plugs up to your compressor and flushes the fluid, works well if you have a compressor.
