Default Help! 2001 Accord LX Check Engine Light Flashing

My 2001 Accord has 34K mile and problems are keep coming. Anyone can tell me what is wrong when the engine light flash on and off for a second and disappear for a few days and reappear, while it is doing that the car chokes and unable to accelerate. That happens in a split second and the problems sometime will go away for a few days and reappear. I first thought it is the transmission because this model has this issue. It feels like the transmission is causing the problem because slipped and re-engaged.

I took it to the deal for a diagnostic test. They came back saying that it’s the computer controlling unit that got messed up. They reset the codes and the problem went away for a week. It happened again after a few days of driving. I took it back to the dealer and they said seems like the computer had no problem and probably fixed by itself and it doesn’t seem like the transmission it causing the problem either.

The problem is keep appearing and the deal has no solutions.

Does anyone have the same problem? Is it the computer unit or the transmission that is causing the engine light to flash and slip? I tried a number of times to shift the gear to N and D3 and they black out or both gears are led for a split second.

Much appreciated if you can help with the problem.

Usually on most cars Honda included if your check engine light is flashing its because you have a multiple misfire code which or another code that can damage the catalytic converter. Flashing check engine lights are very bad. I would bring it to an independent shop and have them look at it ask friends if they know of a trust worthy shop that you can bring it too because it sounds like your dealer is worth a hoot and just trying pass you along. The computer isn't going to fix itself shoot it may need to be re-programed if that really is the problem.

Thanks for the advise! I will take it to the shop or the dealer again.
