Oil change Maint. Minder 6700 miles ?
Hi, This MM system is new to me. My 2010 accord, has 6700 miles at 50% life, mostly highway miles on vacation. I called the dealer they say change by 7k miles, the book says @ 20%. The car is 3 months old, this is confusing ,what is one do ? who to believe ? Thanks.
PS . The tranny fluid is just below the XXXX on the dip stick hot, is that normal or ok for 6700 miles ?

welcome to the forum. Most dealers who are customer oriented will tell you 20% oil life to change oil. Those who are hungry will tell you anything to get you to come in and do an oil change. I normally get 7500+ at 20% on my 07 Fit. Do as the manual says. For your transmission, go to Honda and purchase only the Honda transmission oil and add as needed. Always check for leaks. also watch the (trans) oil level until you are comfortable as to how much is used or lost. Keep a record for yourself in your owners manual. below the xxxx do you know where the level was when you first got the car. If not fill it to top level and check it each 2 weeks and keep a record. And always ask questions if in doubt. Believe those who have no interest in your pocket book, but in the safety of you and the family.

Thank you acmech52, excellent advice on the oil change, I'll go by the book. I like this " believe those who have no interest in your pocket book" . Good point on the tranny level it may have come at that level from the factory. I sure hope it is not leaking , I'll have the dealer check it this week.
