Interestingly two days ago it seemed to have fixed itself - at least temporarily. I repulled the radio and ECU fuses - but as before it did not seem to have any impact. However - and you will love this - I put the radio on before I put it into gear. Since then the transmission has been working correctly. Don't know if it is a coincidence - or something to do with powering the electronics. This was the first time I put the radio on while running the car. So I am keeping my fingers crossed. I guess the TCU itself is OK.

Well, it started working correctly again - has been good for about a week. I had repulled the radio and ECU fuses as someone elsewhere had suggested. Put the radio on for the first time since I had the TCU fixed - maybe that had something to do with it - elctronics routing? Who knows!!!!! Anyway for the time being it is running good. Keeping my fingers crossed
