Default RPM major problem - 95 honda accord ex v6

I have a 1995 Honda Accord EX V6. Every now and again while I am driving my RPM gauge will go crazy. I mean from 0 rpm to 5000 rpm bouncing all over the place. The car will downshift and up shift some but not too bad. If you where not looking at the RPM gauge you would barley feel the downshifting. I think it is the speed control sensor on the tranny but I am not getting any check engine light so no codes to check. Can anyone please help me with this. This is my main car and I need it to keep running. Thanks

welcome to the forum. Check the wiring harness at the distributor where the rpm guage gets its reading. loose, poor or dirty connection, your speed sense controller works the speed-o-meter.

I thought that may have been the problem so I replaced the distributor and rotor inside. along with new plugs and wires. Still having the same problem. Thanks for the reply.
