Default Throttle tone at speed

I have a 2003 Accord 4 cyl auto with 172k on it. I hear a med/high pitch tone when I'm driving between 50-70mph. The tone goes away when I accelerate or when I take my foot off the gas. It seems to be directly linked to the throttle position. I'm guessing it's a vacuum issue. Anyone have an idea as to what it is? There is no change in performance either. It occurs with radio or a/c on or off.

Thanks for the help!

welcome to the forum. Guessing at this one, Alternator bearing ( due to milage). Belt pully bearings or belt tensioner.

Wecome to the forums. Do you know the general area where the sound is coming from? I know of hard to tell at 50 mph but it might help.

It sounds like it's coming from the dash or engine area. The wierd thing is it only makes the sound at speed. I matched rpm's while it was stopped and didn't hear anything. If I'm going 75mph I can tap the throttle and make it beep, but if I give it gas, it stops. It doesn't sound tranny related either. I also received good suggestions from friends- slow down or turn the radio up...

Thanks for the help so far!
