If the car is in good condition, other than the transmission, it is less cost to fix the trans than to purchase a new vehicle, unless its time for you to get a new one. I drive 107k in 2 1/2 years, each 5 years I get another car and give the old one to my son or wife. You can get new cars at a great price, but as a trade in you will hardly get anything for it. Save money if you ovh your trans. Write to American Honda in Torrance Ca. and ask them if they may give you a discount on a new trans for your car. I know its out of warranty. Sometimes Honda will assist on the cost. ( good will )

I took my car to a transmission serv. ctr , they cleared the code and I did not get the error code for more than a week ( 1000 miles).
Any suggestions why it never got CEL.
will it help if I drive my car in other than regular D1 mode.
thanks

Drive as usual, not much to help trans. There were several years that the Honda Accord had weak trans. 02 was one of the years. not much you can do but to continue the normal service and see how the trans does. Always make sure you use honda trans fluid, no other fluid. Also write to American Honda and see if they might be able to help you out on the cost of a new trans if and when you have to have it done.
