Default What do you think about aftermarket spoilers?

My 2002 Accord (Special Edition) didn't come with a spoiler but I bought one of those aftermarket plastic unpainted versions to have painted and put on at some later date. It came with wiring and a rear brake light but I have no idea of quality. It seems much lighter than an OEM spoiler.

Is it worth putting on?

*I later bought a 2002 OEM Honda spoiler which came with the metal "spring" rods for the hinges, instructions, and packed in foam cut to suspend it from the sides of the box. It came in the proper paint code too so I would most likely put that one on anyway but I'm still curious about the aftermarket one.

my personal opinion, i have seen some of the most eye sore aftermarket spoilers that are a joke. oversize is gaudy, most spoilers do nothing for performance or looks. stock looking is good, not wild. spoilers do not take effect until you hit about 60+ miles per hr. some i have seen are set incorrectly and those who know aerodynamics can be seen laughing at the sight. just an example, 1969/70 dodge/ply came out with a huge wing this was effective after 60 mph, so during the Daytona type races and the huge 426 Hemi that powered these cars, the wing was great, kept the car steady and on the track. (approx 200 mph) . so keep it close to stock if for looks, does not increase milage. does not help on resale unless to a young person who likes looks.

I should have been more specific. What do you think of aftermarket spoilers meant to look OEM?

*I agree, the big ones "look tacky" which is quoting a female friend from my college days.

Well good. Do they hold up well? Keep paint on, work?

I have been holding off putting my OEM/NOS spoiler/wing onto my 2002 Accord since she could use some new paint.
