Default '01 civic lx, thrown rod.... Automatic.... Suitable replacement engine

My 2001 civic lx sedan with an automatic recently began to sound like a diesel with drastic loss of power. I'm sure it's a connecting rod failure. What are suitable economical engine choices for this car

welcome to the forum. 2001-2004 should be the same (not the ex model) check in wikipedia for the exact engines for those years. go to google, bing, yahoo and find in your area, salvage yards that have your size engine. should be able to obtain one for 650 to 1300 dollars complete. ebay and amazon can give you places to purchase engines. get a good used low milage engine.
