Default 1990 Honda Civic will not start in cold

Hello,

I have a 1990 Honda Civic Hatchback, 4 speed MT 1.5L. I have noticed when it's cold the car does not start in the morning, even if I try to jump start it but if I push it will start. Once it's warmed up it starts with no problem. If the morning is warm, the car starts. I have replaced the battery & terminals (Bought from Dealer) but the problem is still there. I can not really take it to a workshop because half the times it will start without a problem.

I ruled out the relay since when I push it starts .

Any help is greatly appreciated,

Thanks

welcome to the forum. When was your last tune up, take a compression check, spark plug condition, plug wires last changed, check condition of distributor cap, rotor and spring, fuel pressure at the rail.

I had the full tune up about 16K miles ago--- plugs, wires, fuel filter. Someone was suggesting it could be starter but my question is why does it start sometimes?

you are saying the starter does not crank the engine over on a cold morning. with a new battery and terminals clean, the starter solinoid may be going bad, or the starter itself is tired. (Sorry I misunderstood the engine to turn and not start.)

Hi,

I finally figured it out, it was the solenoid. It was loosely connected to the starter.
