2000 Honda Civic Lx engine swap
So I have recently taken up working on various Hondas including rebuilds on 1.6 engines. The most recent assisting in a d16y8 rebuild
Well my automatic 2000 Honda civic lx 1.6 d16y7 sohc is due for a rebuild and the tranny is going out at 220k miles. Instead of a rebuild I'd like to put new performance in it including a cold air Intake system, msd hei distributor, performance throttle body, etc.
So I want to put a b16a2 dohc 1.6 engine in. My questions is which b series automatic transmission would you all say is best, note I want to stay obd 2. Following with obd 2 the y7 is already an obd 2 ecu and wire harness, so am I going to have to change the ecu and wire harness given the a2 is obd 2 as well, or will the fact I'm changing from d series to b series mean I'll have to change the ecu and wire harness? Also I know I'll have to change the axles so will all b series axles fit any b series transmission as it should? If so what is the preferred b series axle. If it helps at some point I will turbo it but for now I'd like to get the swap down and at least get 20k miles on the new engine before a turbo. And finally is there anything else anyone can think of I'll need for my swap or any advice for me. I am aware I'll have to allow a couple weeks to work out kinks but does anyone who's already done this swap have any experience to share?
