Default Brake pedal slowly goes to floor when holding it

Hello, I have a 1995 civic LX automatic with the 1.5 engine and when I have my foot on the brake pedal for a while during traffic or any other thing, this sinks slowly to the floor. This has been happening for a while but yesterday the same thing happened and I had my brake pedal all the way to the floor and the car started moving Forward which caused me to pull the handbrake to avoid hitting the car in front of me. Does anyone know what causes this? A bad master? Bad booster? Or air in the brakes?
Thank you

Terminate the ports on the MC and push the pedal. If it goes to the floor replace the MC.

After you close off the ports off try it car not started. Pedal good. Start if and try it. What do you get?

Thank you so much for being so thorough and informative. Really the most informative car videos I've seen and very helpful for my situation with this exact car.
