D16Z6 for my 98 civic DX??
I recently bought a civic with a blown engine, I’m planning on replacing the engine, but not sure what engine to start look for? I saw a YT vid of a guy swapping his engine in his civic for a D16Z6
I have a 1998 Honda civic DX coupe 5-speed manual transmission.
it originally had the D16Y7 and I don’t have the trans either
I’m new to the car community any advise is appreciated

Do a good inspection of the underside.
Get rid of the rust. If you are going to spend the time and money to fix this up
then you don't want the rust to take the vehicle away in a couple of years.
As for the other stuff, I am more of a maintain what I got.
Try to do a lot of the work myself
But, never had the desire to do mods or up grade.
When my brother's 76 Mustang broke, we replaced the engine with a used one of the same type
That just made it simpler for us to do.
But, wish you luck in your project.
Oh, Honda-tech.com forum might have more expertise to help with the transformation.

Man, I really appreciate the advice, I got bought some wire brushes and I got the ones that are handheld and attach to the drill.
I’ve seen some people use chemicals to break down the rust before they do a big rust removal job, do you recommend chemicals or just gettin it done with some elbow grease and a wire brush?
also, I have a garage but at the moment my wife’s uncle has his VW 1970s beetle in there. I really want to get it out so I can start getting my project out of the elements.
I’ll go check out that other website as well, I really appreciate the advise haha I’m really green when it comes to cars.
