Hey guys. I have a 2008 Civic Sedan and the part that connects the hinges to the trunk is broke off and the trunk does not close properly. When it rains, water can leak inside the trunk. I attached a photo. The part in the red box ripped off from the trunk taking off part of the trunk that was connected to the hinge and bolt... that's why I can't bolt it back on, there is a large part missing from where the bolts where... and this happened on both ends...

What is the best solution for this problem? Is it possible to get that part re-welded?

Should I get a new "used" trunk? If so, how much should I look to spend on a used trunk?

Thank you so much in advance. I searched the forum and did not find this problem so I am guessing this isn't a common problem on the 8th gen civics?

the arms that connect to the trunk lid are bolted on not welded. you can see here items #3-#4 and the bolts #33-#34. http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com/...gry5=TRUNK+LID how do you think people install carbon fiber trunk lids you can't weld carbon fiber.

I think there is a mis-communication with what the problem is. I have updated my original post clarifying the problem. Do you have any other solutions?

well maybe you could retap the hole or find some self taping metal screws that are the same length as the bolts so you don't drill through the trunk lid and drill them in just above the old hole. or drill two small holes on either side of the bottom hole on the raised surface being careful not to drill through the trunk lid then use zip ties to hold it down. other then that your going to need a new trunk lid.
