My ignition keys will not turn and start car. I tried different key, turning steering wheel and just jiggling the key endlessly. I assume the tumblers are bad. Any suggestions for a fix so I can drive it for repair? Or even a fix. Any guesses on cost for fixing? Thanks.

 

Just a wild guess ....
Try putting the gear selector into neutral with the key in the ignition
Then see if you can turn the key?

Can also try spraying lube into ignition lock?

 

I can't switch gears. I did spray the ignition cylinder and key but didn't help. Thanks for suggestions.

 

Last resort, get rubber mallet hit key while trying to turn key
Or hit key with mallet and then try turning key
The vibration from hitting the key should release what ever is keeping the key from turning
That is the theory behind this action

Or go to Honda dealer??

 

Go to locksmith but no dealer.

 

Locksmith won't switch gears at all but they can make new keys.
