The heat shield on my 2002 Honda Civic LX sedan rusted off and was removed by a dealership mechanic. He didn't mention replacing it - maybe because if the car's age. I've already spent $800 this year on it (side window motor and oil cam plug) and the side door chime and air conditioner don't work, but I consider those non essential. The garage said that Honda no longer makes that part for my model, but can get an aftermarket one and their estimate to replace it would be around $300 (parts, labor and tax). I just wanted to know if replacing the shield would be advisable.

 

Do you think the heat is going to be a problem?
