... so advised the old timer with some mechanical experience. He mighta saved me from a hard and costly lesson. Old John is a former Air Force mechanic. He helped me with a
tune up of my Civic (2000 DX, D16Y7 motor). I'm putting in new plugs, plug wires, distributor cap, and rotor. Except I couldn't pull off the rotor, since it is attached with that damnable set screw
that cannot be accessed unless the rotor is in the "up" position, so to speak. I was about to "bump" the starter until it was positioned where access was possible. He said to give that a go,
and then I could walk to the nearest auto parts store for a new high voltage coil. I'm thinking he's right. Maybe I could pull the wire harness to the distributor...
