I do not drive my car a lot, so I disconnect the battery between uses (I have a switch on my battery). The battery was purchased about 5 or 6 months ago. I have also recently had the alternator replaced. My car will start just perfectly when I leave from home, however, when I try to leave my destination to return home, my car starts up and then immediately dies and will not start up again. The first time, I turned it off and sat for a while, and it eventually restarted, with some difficulty. (pressing the gas pedal a couple times). The second time it happened, again- just fine until I tried to go back home. Then it would not restart at all. It wanted to start, and tried to start, but seemed to be idling extremely low (RPMs dropped) and shaking, and would immediately die. I waited and waited. It wasn't until I held the gas pedal down while trying to start it, and then revved the engine for the next 10 minutes, that it finally stayed running and I was able to drive home.

 

welcome to the forum. check our distributor, the coil may be going bad, also the idle cut off may need cleaning.
