Default Recall #Q17 Honda Element 2006 what does this mean?

I found a Honda Element in Holland but the car was salvaged in Californa 2006
it was recalled Recall #Q17. Read the carfax link report here http://www.carfax.eu/show-report/602...837fe87432b35a

Is it safe to buy the car?

I plan to bring in home to Sweden from Holland.

Anyone has a clue on the recall and why the car was salvaged?

/Jan

did you bother to read the glossary at the bottom of your carfax report were it explains everything in explicit detail ???. there is no way for us to tell you if its road safe you would need a mechanic to look over the car personally.

I did read the glossary but in this case there seems to be something strange why isnt there a report about an accident?
It just say salvage nothing else. Why I posted this was because I thought it might have something with the recall do to but it might not.

Swede: suggestion only. I have purchased salvage title vehicles, insurance is difficult to obtain. they will insure it for a lot less than low book value, if you"re not a mech, you will not find the fine crack just behind the strut tower ( in my case ) or the cracked frame just aft of the drivers belly pan inside top of the frame. The recall would be for something found by lots of owners and to avoid a large lawsuit, honda does a recall to fix it correctly. Purchase a salvage title to keep and run into the ground, not to resell later. and be sure it is in sound condition. need to find out why it was salvage, according to the car fax, I'd pass on it unless it sold for 50% of its value and I am comfortable to keep a vehicle as this. I use a mirror and power flash light to view every part of this vehicle. took me 1.5 hrs to view my salvage title car.

Thank you for the input. Seems all Honda Element I find in europe either are salvaged or been in a car crash, maybe it is safer to buy one in the states and have it shipped over here. I e a vehicle with a clean carfax.
The seller dropped the price on the one in holland to 13750€ with only 22780 km on the meter. There is propably something fishy with it.

yes it is possible that they will not want to tell you what happened. Also I went looking for a honda element due to having a couple of dogs and the honda Fit was getting to be a bit to small for passengers and dogs. There are a lot of Elements here in the US. the better priced ones are not in California. We got the most expensive anything in Ca.
If you know what kind of crash it was in and fixed proper, then at a cheaper price is ok. ex. front fender or bumper or outside shell only, ( no frame damage ) is ok. If you plan to purchase a salvage or crashed, email me and I will assist you the best I can to what to look for. acmech52@yahoo.com my wife and I viewed almost 30 elements. I still like them.
