will a k&n cold air intake improve fuel economy on a 2011 honda accord
I recently purchased a 2011 Honda accord coupe v6 manual transmission with 35k kilometers on it. Being from Quebec, Canada, which has gas price equivalent of $5.00 per gallon, I am wondering if a k&n cold air intake; apart from added horsepower, will it deliver better mpg?
welcome to the forum. k & n filter will allow more air to the intake may improve a little better milage. If your car is under any type of warranty, be sure to ask your dealer if you can install this without voiding the warranty.
no a ''cold air'' intake will not give you better mpg a ''short ram'' intake will. the general consensus is when using a ''short ram'' intake over the stock cold air is you gain mpg because one its sucking in hot air from inside the engine bay two the piping usually aluminium will act as a heat soak further warming incoming air. your choice of filter however is poor because regular K&N filters are made from cotton and require oil to be effective this oil gets dirty quickly and clogs the filter also the oil can gunk up air/fuel sensors. stick with AEM dryflow filters they require no oil and filter around 99.99% that will not clog when dirty. this filter also come with a lifetime warranty. AEM has also collaborated with K&N to make a hybrid filter but it just a AEM dryflow filter painted red.
