2010 Honda 4 stroke 90 fuel injection

First time posting, Just bought a boat with a low hour 90 H/P 4 stroke fuel injected motor. I took the motor to a Honda mechanic and got the bad news that the #4 piston has low compression. Had the boat out and the motor stalled ,after a bunch of times trying to start it i got it running but had a bad noise. Next day i dumped the crankcase oil and there was more water then oil.The mechanic advised me to buy a new motor, said it's not worth fixing. The motor has somewhere between 200 to 300 hours on it , I can't believe a 12,000 dollar motor is not worth fixing . I got a estimate for installing a new from honda top end and that was 7,500 dollars . It is crazy. If there are any garage mechanics out there that would be willing to pull the powerhead , machine the head & block and install a new piston & rod or all 4 please chime in. People tell me that motors in this condition are just throw aways , I just can't accept that . I am So Cal.

You likely have more issues that just the piston. You may have grenaded the engine.

It is possible until you open it up, It still runs but certainly has low compression in the number 4 cylinder , Could be a bent rod, broken rings or even crank bearing on the crank. Who knows . It's just a shame that they are throw away motors. If i had the time I would tear it down myself and see what needs fixing and price out the parts . owell thanks for the reply

Parts could be a time factor.
