2013 Honda Accord
I’m new. Just wondered if anyone else has rust on the lip of the hood? There’s more coming in, this one I saw first is on the driver’s side. 43.5K miles, hand washed and waxed regularly, just under 6 years old.
Should I have the hood repaired and repainted? Or is there more to come? The dealership said it’s out of warranty, sorry.
What do you think?
Thanks!

welcome to the forum honda does have that 5 year rust warranty. i have never had any rust on any of our honda's in Hawaii or Cali, but normally if you stop the rust by having it taken care of now, it should not get any worst. the body shop will normally strip the paint on the hood, sand, prime and repaint. need to be careful when you get a chip on the hood by rocks, to touch it up right away to prevent rusting.

Thanks for your reply! I’m going for quotes this week. It’s looking like under $300. I’ll get this fixed before winter.
Chicago has a good amount of snow and salts the roads. My ride to work is mostly expressway and so well traveled. I’ve had the chips on the hood since I first bought the car. The same with the Accord before this. Is it the pitch of the hood or the way I drive?

it is not you or the way you drive, its the car design. i put a bra on my 02 civic and covered it with the honda car cover. 5 years later it still looked brand new. my honda Fit has no bra but the car is silver, and every time there is a rock chip, i touched it up that weekend. road salt and snow is not an easy way to keep the car in perfect condition.
