Hello just looking for some help.
I pulled the codes on my 90 Accord EX and got 1, 12, and 43
The next day I cleaned out Oxygen sensor, oil was in the plugs? and it took car of the Oxygen sensor(12) and fuel supply code (43). Now my problem is the EGR valve apparently. I just replaced it a month ago with an EGR valve form an 89' accord because mine had a hole in the diaphragm. BUT the plugs were different, so I just split the wires ans used my original plug. is that ok? is that why the code is coming up? any help is appreciated

 

You would think one from an 89 would work ,but that one may be bad also,I would try a new valve it would be worth the money. then check your codes again ,I would be willing to bet that would solve the problem.

ok thanks thats what I'm thinking. tomorrow I'm gonna try to clean the EGR valve, but i don't think that will help it. And earlier today I pulled the codes and 43 came up again? I reset the ECU and it went away now just 12 again. I just thought tha was weird. Does anyone know the symptom of a bad EGR? i hear a knocking noise from the exhaust sometimes when I try to accelerate and it won't go away unless i lift my foot of the gas and accelerate again? Also right when i turn the car on its loud and shakes a little then goes to normal. My CEL only comes on once i start driving for a couple minutes.

 

the knocking sounds like a timing issue,also if you have any upgrades cold air induction or chip you may want to run a little more octane,maybe mid grade

 

I just ahve a cold air intake and catback exhaust? I'm planning on ordering the EGR monday
