Default exhaust

i have a 2000 civic si with a 1.6 vtec, ive currently got a H&R sport spring package, 16" ssr rims, a off brand intake, and a mugen racing muffler on her. i want to get a little more snap, and make it a little bit louder. so im thinking about putting a header on her. my question is if i put a header on her will she still sound low and throaty, or will it sound like a tin can with a header? and should i stay with mugen brand exhaust parts or will skunk 2 or g reddy parts do the same as any other header?

Welcome to the forum, a header will def make it louder depending on the exhaust system you have on it,most people opt for a larger pipe and turbo muffler. I have seen prices range from $48 to well into the $400 range DC makes a good reliable header at a reasonable price. Check out www.partsgeek.com good luck,Bobby

i have the same motor as you. i can tell you my set up and show you a video of my car so you can hear it if youd like. right now i have a DC sports 2:1 header and downpipe. the full exhaust is DC as well its 2" pipes with the high flow cat.. i tried this set up with my stock pipes as well and there wasnt much difference in sound. the thing that really makes an exhaust "ricey" or deep is the tip. i run a 2" straight back with no tip just for that reason

Ya man I'd appreciate a video. I do have larger pipe under the car because I hit a turtle about a week after I lowered it, and I have a mugen racing muffler with a 3" tip
